Well made it out yesterday for a little predator hunting before bobcat and fox season ends on Monday... Got run out of the first stand of the morning by well tenders doing their job. Couldn't get mad at them, at least they showed up for work. But, anyways. So on the second stand I setup watching down a little hollow with a well site out to my right around the ridge and a big hardwood flat to my left. Down below me was another flat but was a little thicker. That's where I anticipated the critters to come from. About seven minutes in playing snowshoe distress. I look to my right and coming from the well site on the road is a bobcat. Gets to the wood edge and gets up in the edge following the road. I had to reposition myself, since I facing downhill. At this time my heart is pounding, I let out a deep breath and wouldn't you know it. I fog up my danggone scope. So now I'm waiting on it to get behind a tree since its straight out from me and I don't want to move to much. When it does, I clean out my scope. I'm now a little bit calmer but the anticipation get the better of me and I shoot it as its crouching down coming towards me. I have my gun zeroed at 200 yds so at 50 or so. It should be about 1.5 inches low. I aim at the bottom of its chin hoping to hit it square in the chest. Well I did hit it. I just pulled the shot up and knocked the right side of its face off.  Screw up and don't think this one will make it to the taxidermist.  Saves me a little money... right..
Made a total of 10 stands yesterday and this was the only critter I saw. Still makes it well worth it. Accomplished what I set out to do. Kill my first bobcat before season ended. Well here's the pictures after I got home, since that's where the camera got left. So sorry for the night photos. It weighed 17 pds 15oz. Almost 18 pounds. Female Me with the tools of the trade and my prize. Savage model 10 predator .22-250, Foxpro Firestorm e-caller and mojo critter decoy.

 Thanks everyone.. Been hard trying to fit in time to hunt, but it was well worth it. Now if I could just get my first coyote to come to the call.. I'll keep at it and look forward to hearing about everyone else's success.

Way to go!! I cant wait to kill one, ever thouht of making a rug out of it? they look cool and are alot cheaper.

Well, I ended up taking it to a taxidermist and he said he could fix it. So we will see when I get it back. Pretty excited to see it already and its gonna be a long wait. Hopefully the wait will be well worth it.

vvarmitr

So he didn't like my idea about the g'hog hole?  :pout:

I sure hope he can do good.
IMO bobcats seem to be the hardest to get to look right.

Been a long time since I've been on here, but here's the update on my Bobcat. I ended up getting taken by this taxidermist. He took the $150 dollar down payment and hide. To never be heard from again. I've tried calling, his wife and daughter answered once, with no call back from him. Apparently he did this to more than just me. Took a lot of peoples money and quit. Have heard some have lawsuits against him, but I'd say it would cost more than the bobcat is worth. So here's to trying to kill another one.
