HOW DO I NOODLE?

can someone tell me how to noodle and what kind of equipment I need?

I have been trotlining for many years and have caught some monster cats. I have found some boxes in several different coves on the lake. How would I dive down there and get them. do I need some equipment or what. I just need some advice on noodling and how to do it.

boxes are when other noodlers make homeade nesting spots for the cats. There is one hole in which the flathead goes in and then you have to dive down and somehow drag him out the whole he went into that is what i am asking. I mean when these noodlers make these boxes it is not private propery is it?

I cant imagine it being private property yotehunter1, most rivers are going to be state or federal. I imagine if the diggin those boxes got too far out of hand to the point it was destructing the nature of the river, the boys would step in.

All you need is your two hands to noodle cats. You slide your hand under4 them and find the gill cover by feel. Then hang yoru fingers in the gill cover and haukl them out. I will have to wanr you though that occasionally a flat head will take offense to this treatment. My grandfather carried the scars of a cat mauling to his grave. They can do some serious grinding on a hand that they get in their mouth. Jimmie

Yotehunter, How well do you value your fingers ?  I have a friend that noodled a turtle once and lost two fingers in the process !!!  :shck:

As for diving, I would not recommend a beginner to noodle in water more than waist deep and make sure you have partner, a nice size cat can drag a full grown man to the bottom in a hurry.

Why not try something safer like gator wrestling !!!    :roflmao: :roflmao:

I watched some boys noodling last night on Channel 5. They even held their first annual noodling tournament. It was very entertaining, but I do believe those boys are a little "touched" in the head.
