I have a Circe call that sounds great at first but then starts to lock up on me. Its not freezing up. It just starts to peter out on me. It looks like it has a JC reed in it.

THO Game Calls

This is probably the best article written on tuning JC Product reeds.

My guess is that you miight need a new reed.  How old is the call, and, more importantly, how much use has it seen?

These are sound files of different reeds that might help you in choosing a new reed if you think it needs one, and also show what the effects of tuning reeds has on the sound.

If you decide that you just want one new reed, please send me a Private Message and I will see if I can't dig one up for you.

Thanks Al, The call is only a few years old, but I haven't used it nearly as much as your calls, that I have, and they work fine. I let my son, Clay, take the commercial calls and I take the customs. :nofgr:

I popped the reed out and I don't think it is a JC because JC is not written on it. The base of the reed looks like aluminum and shows some whitish corrosion. I messed with it a little and put it back in. Still sounds good but the real test is when I take it out for some exercise.
