Anyone shoot aluminum cased ammo? Ever tried it?

I picked up a box of Herter's select grade aluminum cased 9mm this morning, more out of curiosity then anything.
I googled up some reviews of the stuff and just like anything, the guys that hate it, hate and the guys that love it, love it. Didnt learn much there.

I did see a forum out there discussing it, and everyone said they were made in Russia not to buy it. Russian ammo sucks
Found another forum talking about it and a few of the people claimed it was made in Indonesia, therefore it was junk ammo.
Here's whats funny. My box clearly says manufactured by Blazer® Made in the USA  :laf:

The price on these, just for plinking, was too good.... $10.99 for a box of a hundred.
The manufacturer says they use the aluminum case to save money along with the nylon jacket instead of copper.
Which is so thin it's like it's painted on. But who cares?

Never seen it before. If it works well in your particular firearm and the clean up isnt bad GO FOR IT. Used to be Russian ammo was not the greatest due to corrosive primers and dirty burning powder but here latley it is getting better and better.

I say if your needing bang time go for it. Where did you get your box of ammmo? I may have to try some in my P89 so I can get some more bang time myself.
Don't bring shame to our sport.

Yeah I'm, "going for it"  :laf: I bought it before I took the pictures that I posted. :laf:

I'm still convinced this is Russian Ammo though. Nothing anywhere that I can find says Russia.
I'd still buy it. I'm more curious then anything. The box screams Made in USA.

Here's something else that is kind of odd. Click this link and watch what happens... http://www.herters.com/

It looks like the Herter's stuff is just re-badged CCI ammo. I've used CCI Blazer labeled aluminum cased ammo for plinking with zero problems in both 9mm and 45 ACP. I'd use it and not worry about it. However, I wouldn't use any Russian ammo under any circumstances.

Another nod to CCI Blazer ammo.  I've used both the aluminum and the brass cased Blazer ammo with no problems.   I have not used the Herters or their "nylon" clad bullet though.

Jim.... Was that $10.99 for a box of one hundred or for a box of fifty??  The pic shows a box of fifty.       If its for a box of fifty, $10.99 is not that great of a deal.   Just saying.

No your right :doh2: It's per 50. It was still the cheapest thing in the store though.
