And I even brought her back!!!!!!!!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

Took Diane out for a couple photo sessions. We logged over 500 miles in 3 days the weekend before CHRISTmas. Here are a few of the pics she got in a slideshow. Hope you enjoy!!

Looks like your "fixer upper" might need a little work.  But it has running water, pets, gas night lights, and a place to rest.  I do like the barn images.

Nice photos Glen!  I too enjoyed the old barn photos. Americana at it's finest.

It always intrigues me those old barns and houses?...At one time they were someone's "pride and joy".  Some family worked hard to build them, and maintain them.  Time waits for no one.  Now they are reverting back to where they came from.. Only the stones live forever I guess?

Interesting.
The old barns look like they tell a story most of us are deaf to.

Diane said Thanks for the kind words.

I sometimes wish those old walls could talk also. Would be a great time to be had if they could.  On the other hand there may be secrets hidden in them that I don't want to know about.

We found the old house that is caving in within 40 feet of the road. I found it amazing that it was still together & not in a crumpled heap the way it is bowing sagging & twisting. Amazing to me.

And yes they are all melting back into whence they came. Only to be a pile of rubble in the bitter end.

Someone's castle for many years I assume. And hope too that they were all good years for them.

Feel free to look around in that PB album labelled Sunday rides. There are over 650 pics in there now if I remember correctly. They are all there for the public to view. If you see a pic you would like for a wallpaper,, or whatever that thing is on your screen,, go ahead & take it. Or I can email it to you if need be.

Great pics! They remind me of the drive to upstate PA back in the late 60's and early 70's when my dad and mom would pack us all up and haul us to the piece of ground they bought up there in the early 60's.  All the old barns, and then over the years seeing them decay in a combination of weather, time and mostly neglect.

HaMeR

Thanks Dave. I hope they brought back fond memories of the fun times you all had up there.

Yeah those old home places that were everywhere at one time are slowly rotting away. They are getting harder to find. A lot of the Counties that we are travelling were strip mined heavily. Not a lot of these old homesteads survived the wrath of the machinery once the Farmers sold & walked away.

We do like to capture what is left of them in pictures. And Diane's best pics are still ahead of her I think.

Update from a year ago.

We went out yesterday for a ride again. We found that old bowing, twisting, sagging house. Alas it is in it's final year or 2 as a standing structure. The weight of abusive weather & neglect is taking it's toll on the ol gal. If you remember she could barely stand. Now she is beginning to crumble upon herself & Father Time & Mother Nature is showing her no mercy.

Sad eyes.

Front wall has let go. Her back is broke.

From what we can see from the road the kitchen is coming with her. Love the slate on this roof.

Beaver hut. We found a HUGE area with Beavers.

Abandoned barn.

Barnesville , Ohio history.

Hope you enjoyed these pictures as much as Diane does finding them & getting them!!

Sad to see the old gal heading down.  Around here slate roofs were 'reserved' for higher end homes.  I wonder what the history is on that one.

Nice photos.  Wish I had taken pictures of some of the old line shacks out here.  Most were of abode and even had hitching rails out front and corals out back.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

That slate roof is really interesting. Thanks for sharing those HameR

We wonder about the history of the places we find as well. I'm sure some have interesting stories.

I would like to see those old adobe huts too. I think they would be very photographic. Especially on B&W setting. If you ever get around them again I would like to see some pics.

Yes this is one of the fancier designs I've seen. It's also odd that the entire roof,, except the bottom row & starter course,, is scalloped. Most often those were just used for decorative rows half to 2/3rds of the way up.

Thanks!!
