For those of you who are dissatisfied with corn starch bottles or just sticking a wet finger in the air to check wind direction, there is a new electronic product on the market to solve all your concerns.

"Firefly is a precision wind detection with 2 patents on the technology.  It's designed to give users an accurate reading of wind/thermal direction. Firefly takes 512 readings per second, analyzes these readings and after 3 seconds, reports the results in the form of easy-to-interpret LED lights. "

It supposedly detects thermals that a human cannot detect.   Now if they could make a product that would tell me the future wind direction for the next 20 minute time span,  I might do a little better at LBL.   :laf:

It seems every time I hunt when it's snowing I find the wind direction is somewhere in a 360* circle around me and I mean it comes from all 360*.  :eyebrownod:

I still got a couple bottles of Windevice left from when they were in business... and plan to fill them with ashes from the woodstove when they run out. :eyebrow:
Much cheaper and more reliable then the Starwars sensor. :eyebrownod:

I think I will wait for the next generation model.  Hopefully it will be a little higher rating on the number of reading per second.  I don't know if I could get by on 512 readings per second.      Dose look pretty neat.

check out scoutlookweather app for smart phones. I use it daily and it's very accurate. very detailed weather & wind forecast with ability to mark and save your stand locations.
I'm not affiliated with this product in any way other than a user. :readthis:  Just thought it may be helpful for you.
