.....and see how the new scope is going to work out. T/C Encore .308 with Leupold 2X EER scope.

My wife gave me the scope for Christmas and I just got around to getting it mounted.

Wow!  How much does that thing kick?  it's a practical looking beauty but that's a lot of cartridge in a hand gun.

I fired my 30-06 light Mountain rifle while holding and pointing it with one hand on the pistol grip, and that baby jumped a LOT.  180 grain handloads near max, but I'd expect a full load .308 to be similar.

Tell us more about it, what bullet, etc.  Ya got me curious.  :wo:

That's just beautiful Pat. I love the looks of her.

Yep, that one will be fun for YOU to shoot.  .308 handgun is not one that I would look forward to shooting.  I have the same configuration in .223 and there is plenty of of recoil/muzzle jump with just that little round.

There is always a muzzle break to tame it.

Nice contender. I picked one up with a super 14 .223 rem barrel on it back last year in december. Mines a shooter. Im sure tar one is too.

Although substantial, the recoil isn't as bad as you might think. The gun has a 15 inch barrel and is fairly heavy, and the Pachmayr grip absorbs a lot of recoil. I shoot it left handed and wear a glove on my right hand to keep the trigger guard from beating up the middle finger on my right hand.

I shot it today to get the scope dialed in and I'm just starting to work up a load for it. Today I was shooting 150 grain Hornady SST over 43.0 grains of IMR 4895. Here is the result:

Five shots at 50 yards at a 2 inch dot. Four of the shots aren't too bad (1.76 inches), but that one in the upper left kind of messes things up and opens the group to 3.32 inches.

I don't think I pulled that shot, but I may have, so I'll try that load again along with some others till I find one I like. I don't expect too much out of it with only 2-power optics and 56 year old eyes but it will be fun trying.

I'd say really good ear muffs would be a must accessory for that cannon.   :laf:

You gonna deer hunt with it?

I was wearing foam ear plugs in addition to my ear muffs. I do plan on hunting deer with it.
