While I can't speak for Hornady, it seems that most of CCI's .22LR ammo is going to the largest purchasers and there aren't any close to me.  I have a few CCI Standard Velocity stored but some of the guys at the Fish and Game don't.  One of the guys had a couple of bricks ($50 a brick) that his son bought for him and a couple more that one other son will be bringing home on his next trip.  The one was at Dick's in Toledo, OH and they had two bricks (which he bought for his dad) while the other son is in Louisville, KY (who has bought 4 bricks for his dad).  The son in Louisville said that this was all of the standard velocity that they had but there were quite a few bricks of CCI's other .22LR ammo. Another member had been at the Cabela's store in Dundee and bought the one box of CCI Mini-Mags that was on the shelf and asked about more and was told that they don't know when they will get any since their corporate office was dividing their orders to stores according to past sales.  He asked how the sales were for Dundee and he said that they were the store with the highest sales and thought that they should be getting more than they were.  I also was talking with two of the guys at the meeting that have small gun shops, but buy from some of the larger distributers, and they said the only .22LR that they can purchase right now is Eley Match and their price on it was about $16.00 per box of 50.  Both said that they ask about ammo each week when they place orders and each week hear that they have no idea when they will get any.  We had our Kids Day last Sunday at the Fish and Game and there were 25 kids there.  We split them into three groups and they rotated between three disciplines: BB gun, Archery, and .22LR.  That shot at each location about 30 minutes and they shot 7 boxes of 525 rounds.  3,675 rounds or about 150 rounds per kid.  I am VERY lucky that I bought 15 boxes of the 525 rounds last year or they wouldn't be shooting the .22LR.  The next shoot will be .22LR outdoors at reactive targets and we may need to put a limit (something we don't want to do) on the number of rounds they can shoot.

All ammo is in short supply around here,i might could understand the panic buying at first now it is just ridiculous.

Ammo around here is still hard to find. I haven't bought any ammo in some time and probably won't. Availabilty and price will not change until people stop buying it at inflated prices.

Did I happen to be in the right spot at the right time, or is the ammo slowly beginning to come back to store shelves? I noticed at out local Walmart a few days ago they actually had several boxes of centerfire handgun cartridges available. 9mm, .380, .44, .45

Not cheap but not out of control either. If I remember right the 9mm's averaged between $14 and $21 /box

$21 for 9mm is OUT OF CONTROL!!  Ammo makers are making a fortune!

I didnt think the $14 to $21 range was too bad considering I was stocking up on 9's months beofre the shortage and paid $14 at Cabelas for Winchesters.

Cheaper then Dirt has American Eagle junk in stock as we speak for $60 a box. Now that's a fortune. :eyebrownod:

12 cents a round equals $6.00 a box.  Compared to what used to be $1.50-$2.50 a box.     The cost of manufacture did not increase that fast.  Some one is getting fat.

I have been thinking all along that something is going on, I just don't believe with all the Ammo manufactures in this country that supply and demand  has them a year behind and when you do find a little the prices are sky high, I had been looking for 243 wssm brass since last November, I found some the other day from a supplier in Montana at $65.00 a hundred pieces and it is made by Federal. That is double what it was a couple of years ago, but what you gonna do they gottcha  and they know it. cc
