Had some odds and ends pieces of Black walnut and Mahogany that need a home.  This is what I put together...

Here's a Cherry call that I finished up.  Figured I would take a break from carving on it, so I went with a couple of stippled bands...

Thanks for looking!

I like it. How'd you do that top one? I wanna call it laminate but clearly it's the opposite. Nicely done.

Just like he said, just throw some odds and ends together, and then add a little glue or something.

Very nice calls, Dave.

Jim,

You laminate a strip of contrasting wood between two layers of the same colored wood.  Then you split the piece 90 degrees from parallel..Re-glue another contrasting strip into the original pieces.  Looking at the end of the lamination it would look like a "plus sign' or crosshair pattern.  Then you cross cut this lamination into sections.  Rotate the sections 90 degrees to each other, while gluing a thin piece of contrasting wood between the layers.  Then turn it all on the lathe.... Simple!  Basically an all day project.

Dave,

I think you lost us at 'laminate'.
