Bear Grizzly at 20yds. Double lung. Watched him run 138yds through a clear-cut and tip over. Will take the time for a story later.

Congratulations on the Buck.  Even better that you got it with a recurve.

That's awesome with a recurve (even without, but WAY more so with the stick!)!!!
That looks like one tender deer, too.  Congrats.  Will be looking for the story.

Congrats!   Nice deer!   Did you still hunt on the ground or use a tree stand?

Congratulations Code!! Purdy cool you got that fine Buck with a recurve!! I don't care what anybody says about these new lightning fast bows. Man has been harvesting their own food for centuries without training wheels on their bows!!!!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

Code went right back out with his younger brother to help him hunt deer.  The only pic I've seen is the one posted here.  They were still hunting when Code got this buck, walking on the ground.

My brother and I drove to a privately owned clear-cut that we have access to around 6:20. We started walking down a road that runs down the edge of the property. We walked by a bowl where I had watched a 2x2 in velvet playing with a doe in June. About 40 yards down the road past the bowl I see a deer in salal halfway up its chest about 20 yards away. Its the same 2x2 I had seen earlier. He slowly steps out and I come to full draw only to realize my gopro not on. :bash: I gently let back and while I turn on my camera the buck trots about 30 yards out of view behind a blackberry bush. I walked down the road to the other side of the patch while my brother started after the buck. About 20 seconds later the 2x2 trots through the high grass towards my only shooting lane I come to full draw stop the buck with a bleat and then I shoot. 55lbs of re-curve power push my lighted nock into the deers vitals. I watch as the deer runs 138 yards through High grass, then he starts to walk slowly, then all of a sudden I see his tail flash and he topples over. I was ecstatic, I figured he was far enough away that I could look for my arrow and blood at the point of impact. I got there and was horrified, no blood, no arrow. then all of a sudden I stumble on a 2"x1" chunk of lung. We waited 15 minutes and started following the bloodless trail by memory. We had gone 115 yards and the floodgates opened there was blood everywhere. It didn't take long before we were standing over the fork-horn. We took some pictures loaded him up and drove home.

Thanks for reading. Hoping to fill my bros tag tonight. Will post if he does. Feel free to ask questions if theres a gap in the story.

Thanks for taking the time to fill us all in.  Sounds exciting, and now you get to help out your bro!
Do you guys only get one tag where you're at?  I remember last year you were culling some off an airport or something? Are you able to get back in that deal?

Kewl!  Did you get any footage on the gopro that you could post?

Nice job!  Great to see a young guy hunting with a recurve.  I grew up hunting with an old Fred Bear recurve.
