Roundman

Tonight was only the second time in two years I've been out calling. It was a small place just down the road from the house that I've had some luck with. What I'm about to tell ya will seem hard to believe but it's too crazy to make up.

I start calling a little section of hard woods with a deep dip running left to right. Less than a minute goes by and I spot movement off to my left. It's a nice grey fox coming right in. The little sucker wouldn't stop so I fired the 22mag and missed. He runs just about 20 yards (directly in front of me) and stops. I fired again and he went into the spins. The grey was barking and raising all kinds of heck. He runs about another 20 yards and falls behind some deadfall just on the edge of the dip. I looked down for just a second but something caught my eye. My first thought was that the fox was back on the run, but the movement was too fast. Putting the scope back up to my eye I see a coyote looking back at me.  :shock2: The coyote bounces around in the thick stuff for a couple seconds and was gone. Not only did I not get a shot at the coyote but I couldn't find the fox. I know for a fact the coyote and fox were within a few feet of each other. Not for sure but I think that dog snatched my kill.
