It was a cold 25 degrees this morning.  This 37 pound male came in about the 4 minute mark.  I was hunting thick woods over looking a hollow choked with tree tops and briars that a rabbit would have a hard time getting through.  I shot it at 15 steps.

Semp, WTG!!  Good shooting!  Good to see you getting out!  I'm ready to get out to do some calling myself!  Just finishing up the renewal cycle for the gun club and we have some people trying to close us down.  Taking lot of my time!?!?

Good job Semp. Didn't you use to have some kind of dot scope on your shotgun ?  Jeb

That is a Stoeger 3500. I usually hunt with a Benelli SBE which has a red dot mounted on it. I bought the Stoeger a couple of years ago on a whim and it turned in to a safe queen. So yesterday I thought I'd take it for a walk. It is a great shotgun. In many ways I like it better than my SBE. As for ammo, I use various 3 1/2 inch shells in 4buck, T shot, BB's and in #2 shot depending on where I am hunting and the expected shot distance. I also vary the choke from a Carson's coyote choke down to a modified choke for the flite control wad shells.   At 15 steps, I could've used #8 bird shot and got the same result.   :laf:

I've never bought Dead Coyote shells and never will at $6.00 each!  25 degrees is friggin' cold!  You ain't right in the head, James!   :laf:

Way to go Semp!! Laid that one out "cold"!!  :eyebrow: :eyebrow:  Good to see your getting "warmed" up for the LBL!! Just hope you don't hit your "hi" before it gets here tho!!  :laf: :laf:

BTW-- I have to agree with Jim.  Heck it would take a 20MPH wind just to get a wind chill reading on that!!!  :alscalls: :alscalls:

Because of that rotator cuff surgery back in August, this was only the second time I've been out calling for coyotes.  I don't think there is any danger of hitting a "hi" anytime soon.    :nono:

Dave

Rotator surgery and  3 1/2" mags 4 months later!  You got some grapefruits, there, brotha!   :nofgr:
Good to see you're recovered.

Good way to start off the day and close out the year.  Just not so sure this desert dweller would be out in that weather.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs
