Charles Krauthammer told viewers Friday on "Special Report with Bret Baier" that President Obama's statement on the latest Ukraine developments showed "weakness," and implied that "we're not really going to do anything" about the political upheaval in Ukraine.

On Friday, armed men, allegedly Russian military forces, entered the Crimea region and took control of two airports. President Obama then delivered a message from the White House briefing room, saying he was "deeply concerned" by the reports and that "there will be costs" for any military intervention in Ukraine, though he declined to specify what those costs might be.

Krauthammer, however, said the president's statement failed to make strong waves.

"The Ukrainians, and I think everybody, is shocked by the weakness of Obama's statement," he said. "What he's saying is, we're not really going to do anything."

Krauthammer, a syndicated columnist and a Fox News contributor, said Russia will interpret Obama's remarks as complacency.

"He said, any violation of Ukrainian territory is destabilizing, and that's not in Russia's interest. He is instructing Putin on what's in Russia's interest?" Krauthammer said. "I can assure you, Putin has calculated his calculated his own interests, and he's calculated that detaching Crimea from Ukraine and making it, essentially, a colony of Russia, is in Russia's interest - because he knows he has nothing to fear from the west, because it's not led by anybody. It used to be led by the United States."

I don't think anybody on this site would or is considering Putin a hero.  I think most are saying and I am one is that Putin seems to have more starch in his back than obama and sticks to his guns, not wishy washy .  It is my opinion the obama is naive in the ways of the world and Putin is very street savvy.  Regardless of his intentions in the Ukraine he stands strong among the Russians there and among his military, unlike our "leader".  They, Russia, have had a naval presence there for over 200 years and he wants to keep it that way.  The Black Sea is a very critical strategic part of Russia's naval fleet.

Our leadership is weak, everyone knows it! We get no respect as our President goes on apology tour after tour telling everyone how wrong America has been, drawing meaningless lines in the sand, and then another and then another.

The solution was to not give the impression we are a bunch of girly men afraid of our own shadows in the first place! Too late for that and now other than saber rattling, toothless sanctions and freezing Putin's American checking account there is nothing that can really be done.

There are lots of people who ought to know better that are making statements that in no way help our country while involved in delicate negotiations.  I see nothing about Putin to admire.  All members of NATO and the U.N. need to stand together in this matter.

First of all the Ukraine is not part of NATO and there is no legal requirement for them to do anything. I doubt that they could they get a consensus even if they wanted to do something.  The UN is just a bunch of do nothings. Do you recall how many resolutions were passed on Iraq, before we said enough talk and put together a coalition and said the heck with the UN.  The UN is comprised mainly of thugs and greedy self-serving politicians.  I was serving in the Congo during the rebellion and the UN sent in a peace keeping mission who raped, murdered and plundered the country side.  During Vietnam we captured/killed many Vietcong and North Vietnamese soldiers who had UNICEF packets in their rut sacks.  I could tell dozens of stories about the UN and the inability to care about anything other than their own greedy self.

The UN will pass some toothless resolutions. More "grand speeches" will be made by Obama and Kerry. Meanwhile, Putin will tighten his grip and laugh at the inept cowards making speeches and resolutions.

You can't count on Europe for anything and the US has been neutered by Obama and his ilk.

What is wrong with this picture?

The picture is of the five first line US nuclear carriers docked together in one place. Just like Battleship Row, Pearl Harbor , December 7, 1941.
This picture was taken the February 2014 in Norfolk , Virginia … Obama ordered 5 nuclear carriers into harbor for "routine" (?) inspections. Heads of the Navy were flabbergasted by the directive but had to comply as it was a direct order from their Commander-in-Chief.

The carriers were all pulled out from the MIDDLE EAST and the Afghanistan support role leaving our land forces naked and exposed!

NORFOLK , VA. (February 8, 2014). This is the first time since WWII that five nuclear powered aircraft carriers were docked together. USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77), USS Enterprise (CVN 65), USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), and USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) are all in port at Naval Station Norfolk , Va. , the world’s largest naval station.

Knowledgeable Sources stated that this breached a long standing military protocol in the Navy meant to avoid a massive enemy strike on major US forces.

Since Barack Obama has been in the White House, high ranking military officers have been removed from their positions at a rate that is absolutely unprecedented. Things have gotten so bad that a number of retired generals are publicly speaking out about the 'purg' of the U.S. military that they believe is taking place. As you will see below, dozens of highly decorated military leaders have been dismissed from their positions over the past few years. So why is this happening? What is going on right now is absolutely crazy especially during a time of peace. Is there a deliberate attempt to reshape the military and remove those who don't adhere to the proper 'viewpoints' ? Does someone out there feel a need to get officers that won't cooperate out of the way?





Throughout world history, whatever comes next after a military purge is never good.
If this continues, what is the U.S. military going to look like in a few years?





Perhaps you are reading this and you think that 'purge' is too strong a word for what is taking place. Well, just consider the following quotes from some very highly decorated retired officers:





-Retired Army Major General Paul Vallely: The White House protects their own. That's why they stalled on the investigation into fast and furious, Benghazi and Obamacare. A Pentagon official who asked to remain nameless because they were not authorized to speak on the matter said even young officers, down through the ranks have been told not to talk about Obama or the politics of the White House. They are purging everyone and if you want to keep your job just keep your mouth shut. Now this trend appears to be accelerating.

Boykin and I served together in the mid 70's, he was a captain then.  He has been involved in all special operations and was the commander of Delta during the Somalia fiasco.  He was the man who wanted more heavy "equipment" brought into the fight but was denied by the Clinton administration.  A very patriotic God fearing man.  If you ever see the book "Never Surrender" buy it. 

In all fairness to this thread Boykin was relieved by Bush.  Rumsfield  didn't want him relieved and fought to have him remain on active duty but the Commander-In-Chief, as it should be, has the final word.  Why was he relieved - he spoke at a religious convention while in uniform.  I have a picture of him and our team someplace  around here, if I find it I'll post it.

Al you are absolutely correct, everyone does have an opinion and to a limited degree are free to say what they want.  What has been said here that could be used against our government?  Also I don't think there are any delicate negations going on.    Russia did what they thought best for their country and I don't believe they are going to back off.  Remember as a kid the school yard bully.  He got his way until someone stood up and punched his lights out. 

Killing Bin Laden and Qaddafi did absolutely nothing to stop terrorism, although I'm glad we did.  But remember Clinton could have had him many, many years ago long before 9/11.  I wonder who gave the stand down order for Benghazi, I would bet anything it wasn't a military battle field commander.  The order had to come from DC - Sec of State - Sec of Defense - White House,take your choice.

John P, I didn't say that anybody on this forum did anything.  My reference is to elected officials who say things that could be used by other governments against us during negotiations.  I disagree that killing Bin Laden and Khadaffi and the other terrorist lieutenants who have been taken out didn't help against terrorism.  The negotiations going on right now regarding Russia and the Ukraine are delicate enough for me.  I don't see a whole lot of difference between what Putin and Russia have done in the Ukraine and what they did when they invaded Georgia.  President Bush said he looked Putin straight in the eye and found him to be forthcoming and trustworthy.  Slight error in judgment there.
