Anyone heard any gobblers yet ? I've been seeing some hens but no gobblers yet. Won't be long !!

riverboss

I herd some 2 weeks ago in the snow hammering hard. It won't be long and season will be here. 12" of snow for tomorrow may keep spring at bay for a few more weeks.

bambam

We're supposed to get snow Thursday. Hope it's the last one . Been a long winter.

The turkeys here need snowshoes and stilts the snow is so deep

 :laf: :laf: @^^^^!!

They are still all flocked up around here. We seen a group of 50,, near as I could tell all hens,, or so in a cut corn field & across the road was about 20 more. Those were too far from the road to tell what they were with the snow & the bright sun. There were 6 more birds running out of the woods above those.

We've been seeing flocks of one or the other & haven't seen the flocks running together yet.

I do have all my calls cleaned & my dekes & vest ready!!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

I heard 9 of them this morning. Clucking away.
Went up up front to the offices to copy a BOL for a truck driver and when I walked by the meeting room there they were.  :alscalls:

LMAO! Funny you say that  :eyebrow:
I did once... but it was Jerrys Crow call.
Me and the supervisors all wear Motorola radios. Bout half way through the day, someone got on the radio and asked the rest of the crew if they knew where that sound was coming from. "I'm pretty sure someones doing it. We havn't had no crow in here for 5 hours now and just been unable to see it", he says.  :alscalls:

Okanagan

Didn't see any the spring I was in Istanbul, but did see some Italian stiletto heels peeking from under the hem of a burka.

nastygunz

I want to use my .410 handgun to flop me a big bird but the Girlie NH game department says it aint a big enough caliber to do the job despite all the evidence and proof that it is  :argh:...theres your challenge Riverboss :yoyo:....geez a little duck tape n I could have a .410 double barrel

nastygunz

Below is my email to NHFG regarding using the .410 caliber for turkey hunting. I think it has many valid and legitimate points as far as hunting turkeys with the .410 caliber and was told this by a NHFG CO. I was also told by a state representative that he brought it up with them and
“and they are steadfast in their argument that they do not believe it is a big enough gauge to use for Turkeys”.  I respectfully disagree with their opinion, I have personally shot turkeys so close to me that I let them move further away so my shot pattern could open up a bit, and there are many examples online of hunters harvesting turkey with Thompson Contender .410 hand guns specifically.

(My Email)
NH turkey hunting with the .410 caliber.

“I would like to propose allowing the use of a .410 caliber shotgun to harvest wild turkey. With the high degree of technology evolved for turkey hunting equipment over the years, such as turkey specific chokes and shotgun ammunition like Hevi-Shot, etc. there is no question a bird could be harvested ethically by this caliber. There is even .410 waterfowl ammunition available at this time. It would also allow some of us hand gun hunters to harvest a bird using .410 caliber hand guns made right here in NH such as the Thompson Contender. Hand gun hunters, like bow hunters, of which I am both, rely on stealth and field craft to take close in sure shots on the targeted animal. Many turkeys are taken with a bow in NH every year, and taking one with a .410 would also be a challenging and ethically sound method,

Thank You,
Sincerely,
