I was out in the timber last week doin a little shed huntin, turkey scoutin, etc. walkin along and saw what looked like a bone of some sort from a distance, so I walked over and then saw a full deer leg, looked up the hill a bit and sticking up behind a dead fallin tree was the full carcus remains and a large set of antlers sticking above the log. My heart sank as it looked like one of the big ones I had my eye on during bow season that I had several trail camera pictures of, and I hadn't heard of anybody close by getting him during shotgun season.  Not real sure what happened to him.

Lol.
Kinda felt the same way. Cool find, but disappointed I didn't get to see him this fall.
Here's a couple pics of him during bow season.

Damn that's too bad!  I'd be spending more time in a tree knowing he's out there.

iahntr

Yeah, he was a nice one !
That's one of the things I like about trail cameras too,
When ya get some pics of big bucks, even if you're not
seein em, it definitely helps ya to spend more time in the tree
Knowin that they are there.

That's a shame.  At least you found it before the squirrels chewed it up.

Dale

throw it in a beetle box, {local taxidermist} to clean it up, and you'll still have  a right fine trophy...
when you step out of the truck you become part of the food chain...

Dave

You'd be amazed how well a power washer would clean that up.

JohnP

Scott that is a heck of a find.  I hope you took him home with ya.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

iahntr

Yeah I much rather woulda saw him this fall, but I am glad I found him
before somebody else did, or the critters did. I Did keep him for sure, I
made a wire " box cage " that I put em in, so nothin can chew on the rack,
and stick it outside at a friends place and let the bugs and elements do a
little more "cleaning" on him then I'll power wash it off if it needs it. If the skull
gets too dis colored, I've found an off white spray paint and paint the skull
and it looks pretty dang good.  It is still pretty cool having pics of him on the hoof
to go along with it.

Keep it in the shade the sun light bleaches them bad. To bad you had to get your hands on him this way! He's a great deer.
