40* no wind and sunny , how could I not???
The boy and his wife where at the lake fishing.

They took there snow rider and ice house and toy hauler /camper.

My buddy and I went the other direction calling, well TRYING to call.

OMG still snow out the WAZZOO .

We where on a back road that was plowed to a popular ice fishing lake ,but it was only clear to the parking at the dam, 10 trucks there and snowmobile tracks out from there.

We where able to make one set but had to walk 1/2 mile in crunch 2 foot deep hard, soft snow. I have snow shoes but the buddy did not so I did not use mine, kinda dumb.

Anyway a LOT of work. Set up and called.

10 minutes in we see 3 coming in from the west and 2 from the east, they met in front of us about a mile and a half out.

Milled around and started in one at a time.

There was a little ridge in front of us and that is where they headed.

Out of our sight for sometime.

Meanwhile I'm thinking about what I had said to the bud.

I said : I know I put the call in the wrong spot but It was way easer to get there.

Sure as crap the coyotes where swinging way down wind . One popped up in front of us for a split second the kept going.

Got to the end of the ridge and saw the trucks. POOF!

Gone ,all 5 no shots. Dang...

Only did three more sets just could not get anywhere.

We did how ever manage to run off the road .

The SAME muddy county road Bear and I where on when we where calling last year. As we where going off the buddy found a better spot to go off and aimed for it went out in the field swung around and with the momentum got back on the road and kept going. WOW. Lucked out on that one.

Okanagan

Wyoming?  Sure looks like the country in NE Wyoming looking west by southwest toward the Bighorn mountains.

Good read.  Thanks.
