THO Game Calls

Been working on this for a new call - this is just a peak at one of the rough designs so far - but it is coming along.  I'm getting happier with the results daily.  A bit more refining to do but here's a peak.

That call's right eye (left in the picture) looks like a real eye.  It looks good to me and I am looking forward to seeing the WHOLE call.

Get yourself a set of diamond cutters , if you don't already have them. You can make the lines under the eyes more defined with a cone shaped bit. Pretty good looking wood spirit for a first try .My first one didn't look near that good. Should bring it's new owner some good luck. Jimmie

Thanks for the tip Jimmy  :)    It's a lot smaller than it looks in the picture and I don't know if I can get in there but you can bet I am gonna try!

Steve -

Slow down there a bit would ya  LOL   THere's no hole in this one LOL

I have a maple 2 x 4 that I rip in half and turn call blanks out of when I am working on new designs.  I turned the barrel and then put the wood spirit on it to see if everything would fit the way I want it too.  I have a couple different barrel shapes that I am working with on this and have not decided which one will be the final project so I croped it out :)

Exacto, Excel and several other companies also make a wood carving knive with interchancable blades. Both companies mentioned make a hook bill detailing blade for it as well. Nice sharp point on those things for getting into small places as well if the diamond bits don't work out for you. More dificult to use on hardwoods but they will work. And they are sharp as a razor so watch the fingers. You won't feel the cut until after the blood is flowing really well

I have used these knives to put them on things as small as 3/4 inch in diameter. So it can be done on about any design you have as long as the wood is thick enough at that point. Jimmie

Perhaps a glimpse into the future... :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

Nice work Al...We had a wood spirit (mountain man) engraved onto the grips of a .22 Ruger Bearcat a few years back for a trappers gun raffle. That thing turned out awesome even if I didn't win it :sad2:

Good to see Steve chompin' at the bit again.
