First time for me on the ice in a couple years.  maybe closer to 5 or so.  Last few years we only had a weekend of good ice and then unsafe.  Now this year I want it to be warm so we do not have any more delays on the house its snowing and staying cold.  this week its supposed to be minus wind chill the majority of the work week.

Anyhow I ran down to a somewhat local place on thursday to buy bait.  Got a few pucks of waxies drove home grabbed my gear and headed to the local lake.  Punched a few holes and went to searching.  Did ok for being blind as there wasnt many holes in the ice thus far.  it got to be about 5 and I punched a hole in shallower water and bam.  First drop my screen lit up on my lowrance unit.  It was one after another for a good bit.  Couple kids walked over to see what I was doing and what they were not doing right.  Finished out the night around 5:40 cold and ready to be done.

Friday morn I got up went right back to the same hole and started catching again.  Fished till noon and had to run to the local sportsmens warehouse for a ice skimmer and I was hoping they would have a jet sled.  No dice on the sled.  I ended up hunting the afternoon of friday to finish out pa's hunting season.

Sat I met a buddy around 11 and I worked my way deeper then I had previous days.  We did ok but you can tell the fish had been badgered pretty good in the area as it was swiss cheese.  Had a lot that looked but they were not as agressive as they were on thursday afternoon.

It felt good to get out.  Might try to get out this coming weekend again.  Might have to get bait as mine looked bleak.  Where do you guys get wax worms at for fishing?

Little pricey but work great, last forever and no issues like with live bait.

I will have to look into them.  I try gulp but nothing works as well as live bait.  I think its how it is rigged.  I have always barely hooked em and they wiggle well.  The gulp doesnt have the same action.

Yah nice little mess of fish. :congrats:
I'm surprised you were able to fish in the same spot. Around here, once you get spotted, your honey hole gets targeted for days.

it was pretty much targeted.  the ice looked like swiss cheese.  the lake is not big anyhow so theres only so many places to fish.
