For some, bears are an everyday occurrence, and in many locals they're viewed as varmints. Bears are few and far between here in Texas. There's a few sprinkled in East Texas along the Louisiana boarder, as well as out West along the mountain ranges of Mexico.... any bears that happen to cross over into Texas are protected.

However, no bears here in central Texas or the Texas Hill country..... or least not that TPWD were aware of! Seems a lady bow hunter was out in Leakey Texas at the Lewis Ranch July 5th sitting in a blind overlooking a feeder waiting for some feral hogs. Much to her surprise (not to mention wildlife officials) a black bear made an appearance.... and she got it on video!
