U.S.P.S. Nightmares

I got to thinking about this lost mail crap with Bopeye calling me wondering if Al's package was lost or stolen...(which DID arrive by the way) and also the package I sent to Steve Criner, Priority Mail on the 18th which included a check for $50 bucks...and he never did get it.

Now granted Martin Luther King Day was in there but..... I got a feeling it aint gonna arrive.

I did some searching to see how many other people this has happened to and what, if anything can be done about it.
You guys would not believe the number of packages disappearing through the United States Postal Service every single day. I am not kidding, there's blogs about it, review sites about it, Ebay threads about it, yahoo question sections about it, ConsumerAffiars.com is full of it, ...it just goes on and on.

It is unfreeeeeking believable.

Here's something to ponder.  How many of you have had a phone bill, or a gas bill, or a power bill get lost in the mail and never arrive? These are thin envelopes should be easy as hell to lose or drop, unnoticed.
Let's have the utilities companys start putting our bills into Priority boxes before they send them out and see what happens.

I just can't believe this crap  A 6x6x6 square Red, White and Blue box.....so easy to lose. HOW?

And pens too.    The Federal gubment is full of thieves from top to bottom. The only way I've found is to insure every package. I insure them for more than what is in it too.

I have had a check for $500 come up missing that was supposed to go to Washington state. We had to stop payment on the check and re-issue another one. It seems there was one or two other instances that something got lost from our post office, but that one really stands out.

I am also supposed to be getting a call from someone that says he has bene having trouble with UPS. I don't know what ever became of it, but I still haven't got the call and I hate to keep nagging about it. Oh well.........

Ya beat me to it Jim. After seeing your post yesterday on Al's calls and the Criner deal, I read it to my wife and told her I was gonna ask everyone else how many problems they were havin. Lately, especially in the last year or so, there has been alot of mail that we have not been gettin. Most of them, as far as we know, are bills. At Christmas time we got cell phones for the kids, we paid for phones, set up fee, and first months bill, then they pay for everything monthly after that. So being it was part way through the month I knew the billing cycle was gonna be screwed up, and we were gonna get billed for part of a month. So Thurs. I get an automated call on my cell phone telling me to call the phone company. They told me I owed like $130.00, for my sons phone, and $125.00 for my daughters, due tomm. So instead of first bills being for 1/2 month, they were do for month and a half. Guess I didn't pay attention.  I proceeded to tell her we have not received a bill yet, she proceeded to tell me " OK, so ??" I told her I thought it was a little ridiculous that we have 3 different accounts, so three different envelopes, and we did not receive even one in the mail.  Another one was a deal on hospital bills from a deal we went through with my son just over a year ago, he got hauled by ambulance to local ER, and then on to hospital in DesMoines by ambulance, everything at the time was basically looking like he was having a heart attack. Through a period of a few months, his blood pressure being screwed up, after seeing a half doz. specialists, they really couldn't find anything.  Needless to say we incurred a pretty good bill, or bills on that deal. Well I set up a payment plan with em, and like two months later they said they would turn me over to a collection agency if I didn't start payin on em. I told them our deal that we would get a bill by such and such a time in the month, and I would make payment by that time every month, I said I did not receive a bill form them yet, so I thought it must start the next month. They said they had sent me  2 bills. ???  Another one was from the local car dealership that we bought our Yukon from, we got an oil change done there. To make a long story short, I thought my wife paid it, she thought I paid it. Well a few months later I had to stop back in there for somethin and they wanted to know if I was gonna pay my bill? They said "we have sent out 3 bills, and the next one was gonna be nasty". I said I bought a vehicle from them, they had my name and address, phone number, it's only a town of about 12 thousand people, they could have just called me. Plus I said," I don't operate that way, if I get a service done I pay for it", she just looked at me like a snot and said, "oh you'd be surprised". I said well that's not me, and I thought it was funny that they had sent out 3 bills and we didn't get a one of them. I apologized, paid my bill and left.   
Wow, sorry so long, that's just a few examples. I guess it struck a nerve, and I felt like venting this morning. 
The problem is no matter which side of it we're on, sending, or receiving, it's our fault, or our problem.
Not really just pointing fingers, just kinda sayin, what's up? I realize the numbers that they do, but that's only gonna get worse, so somethins gotta change.

I can feel your frustration Scott...sound like your getting targeted  I know it's not funny.
It's actually amazing. I mean were all human and make mistakes...but the USPS just seems to have some awful ironic mishaps.

On quality goods that someone took pride in creating for a fellow hunter/huntress. I think it's the damn anti's!! We all want our name out there so we return postage with XXXX Game Calls. Well I don't but you know what I mean. It would be easy to grab something & have a fairly good idea of where it came from. Start watching ebay or any other online auction houses for ill gotten booty. 

Scott-- Hope your boy is better now!!    And the Yukon,,,  well,,,  you bought a GMC. I didn't!!

iv sent out an order for an item and a money order in the same envelope; never heard anything, checked with the money order people and they said it hadn't been cashed . did i want to cancel the money order? well with what it cost to cancel the money order i would have been in the hole so i guess thats wasted.

Jim, it feels that way some times don't it.  I mean, what kind of an explanation is there for in the one case, that three different bills, three months in a row, to go maybe a 1/2 mile from the dealership to the post office, and maybe a 1/2 mile to my house, for them all to just disappear. ????  I even double checked and made sure they had the correct address and everything.

Glen, I agree on the marked box, or return address thing. I simply put my last name and return address on the box. I got a bunch of nice little boxes from a place that was gettin rid of them, but they say Nokia on them. I try and "black" that out too, I'm afraid somebody along the way will think they can score a free phone or somethin.  The deal with my son is kind of another frustrating thing. After all that, they could rule out several things, but they could not find an explanation for what happened. On top of that, he's 19 now, so he's bein a typical little know it all butt head,  But once he turned 19, and isn't going to school, he's off our insurance. I try and tell him, I know how much it cost us having insurance, what happens if it happens again and you don't have insurance? I can't imagine what that last deal would've cost us with out insurance.  But they know it all don't they.  The place he's workin at now, he's not puttin in enough hours to get benefits, but hopefully that's gonna change shortly, a place he put an app into called him the other day, and it looks like he'll get put on full time out there. As far as the GMC comment,,,, let me borrow Bops sign while he's down huntin.   

frshwtr, that's part of the problem too isn't it. How much does a guy want to spend to send something? We all know that there isn't big money to be made in the average calls we sell, how much, or how big of a percentage of the call, do we want to spend to ship the sucker? Where does a guy draw the line?

If this makes you feel any better, I got them back a couple weeks ago,

I sent a guy on CCO a foot of 1" Stainless Steel tubing.  I put it in a flat rate priority mail envelope and on the outside in big bold red letters I wrote


Do Not Bend

Or maybe it gets delivered to the wrong address and recipient keeps it.

I had a Trailer Hitch come up missing one time, it weighs about 4 Lbs ??? anyway you could see where the Tape was cut, and then someone poked a 2" Hole in the SIDE of the Box, when the Mail Lady handed me the Box, I grabbed it with 2 hands because I KNEW what was Supposed to be in it. and she gave it to me with the Hole DOWN
Well when I grabbed it, it weighed maybe what, 1 oz. ???  anyway I fliped it over, saw the tape cut and the 2" Hole and questioned her on it, she said it MUST have came out of the Little Hole, I told het the Trailer Hitch is around 10" Long and at least 10" High (it was for a 4" Lift Kit) and that it was IMPOSSIBLE for something that size, to come out of that small of a Hole !!! she told me to call her Boss, I did, and got NOWHERE !!!
I called the Guy I bought the Drop Hitch from and he sent me a NEW One for FREE, and I bought it off of E-Bay to boot !!!
So I know all about the USPS and their Problem Solving Skills and their KEEN Logic Skills also
