I turned some more distress calls two from cedar and one from walnut(With worm holes) but I can still not get a picture that do them justice they are either washed out or blurry but none the less here they are.
The walnut is voiced in cottintail and the other two have not been voiced yet but I am thinking the same for one and bird for the  other. (that is a 2 3/4" shell beside them)

Let me know what you think.

i'm fond of dimpled mouth pieces so i cant see to much wrong with them , nothing against walnut but the cedar catches my eye. i havent seen to many predator calls out of cedar but that could be because i'v not been doing this to long. like all of them.

The walnut one is plain looking but it has a huge sound cavaty and is very loud. I make most of my calls from local trees these two trees came off of my own farm and have been drying for a few years in my basement. West Virginia cedar with no knots?...Hard to come buy. Some people do not like soft woods but dang they are pretty.....The pcs do not show how nice they really are.

Those are sharp. I'm new here to this forum. I'm glad you posted the cedar calls. I haven't seen much cedar calls. I just got a bunch of cedar back from the sawmill the other day. I'm going to have it dried then i'll let the chips fly. Great looking calls!

You missed a real treat.  A few years ago, BradH made some of his calls out of cedar.  They were just too pretty to believe.  If he has some pictures from back in the "day" maybe he can show you, but they were just beautiful calls.

Oh man I love cedar. Juniper too, which is pretty much the same thing. The only difference is Cedar is a tree and a Juniper in nothng but a massive shrub.
But both have the same colors, Juniper a little more agressive in mix.

The sun will fade and kill that nice red/pink heartwood color in no time so a good hardwood oil with UV protection is necessary to maintain the color.

Your right!  Those pictures show them no justice.  They are one of a kind.  I'll be getting with you soon to make me some more calls.   Soon as you are feeling better we need to go hunt some coyotes..
