I just bought a Savage 11 FCNS in .204 ruger, I was mostly wonderin what all yall .204 guys are shooting to get a good basis of what I should try ( and so I dont hafta waste good gas money on worthless ammo), but also, what who anybody recomend as a good hardwoods/field scope to top 'er off with? I'm lookin at a tasco 2.5-10x42 but I'm also debatin on lookin at the            3-9x40's

I love my nikon pro staff 3-9x40  on my .270  (see the pics on the "my new guns for '08".  It holds enough versatility to maintain a good FOV in the woods.  And it has enough magnification to shoot out to 400yds.  Not to mention the level of quality versus the cost.  Just my honest opinion.

Have you considered a Millet IR?

Mueller Tac II on mine in 3-10x44 shootin 40gr bergers

The 32gr V-Max purdy much shoots 1/2" or less in every 204. It seems to be the staple factory load. The 40gr'ers are hit & miss in them. If you want a heavier bullet look for the 39gr BlitzKing loads. These shoot as good as the 32's with a lot more wallop. If you're going to reload the coyotes absolute hate the 35gr Bergers but your fur dealer will thank you for saving him a lot of stitching. I would not hesitate to go with the Nikon lineup. They are very good scopes for the $$.

I shoot Berger 35 grain bullets with Hodgdon Benchmark powder in a custom AR 15. The load is very accurate and pretty easy on the fur. The rifle has a Nikon Monarch 4-16-42 scope on it. and the optics are very good on that scope as are the adjustments.

I've got a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 on my Savage .243 and really like that scope.  Bright and clear.  First Burris I've owned.
