Notail?

Took this pic yesterday from the back door of my parents house, nice tom hanging around ,, his tail is pretty much gone....wonder how that happened? , I saw some nice toms where i got my spring bird this year...ill be back for the Fall!

I was wondering that also...or if a coyote, dog, fox, lonely VT mountain man, grabbed him?

Wild turkeys molt from spring to fall. But they never get featherless or lose their ability to fly like some waterfowl. But that turkey in the pic looks strange. Something got a hold of him me thinks.
