FYI regarding private messages

I'm still getting way to many of you that are replying to the notification that gets emailed to you when you receive a private message from someone on the board.

Since those email notifications are sent out by the forum software when you reply to it instead of the actual private message, it comes directly to me since it uses my mail server. Therefore, the person you are trying to reply to, never gets the message.

Therefore, I have removed the script from the mail template that fetches the message for you and sends it in the email notification.
From now on you will get a simple email stating "(members name) just sent you a private message".
You'll have to actually log on and visit your private message inbox to see the message, and reply to it.

We HAVE a private message box?  How do I find where it is?  Do I go to the local post office?  Do I have to sign up for it?  Will it have REAL mail in it?  Can I have packaged delivered there?  I have so many questions and so little time.  Right now I have to go click under my name where it says "You have 55 messages, 0 are new" and see if I have any new messages.  Maybe that 0 means that I won't have any.

Actually I usually send the originating dork an email and say, "hey, you really think he's going to get this reply when you emailed it to me?"

There should be a meter or a gauge on your personal messages page, letting you know.

Otherwise;

New Member =
Reg. Member =100   
Sr. Member =100
Seasoned Member =100    
Hard Core FnF'r =500    
FnF Life Member =500
Silver Member =500
Gold Membership=500

But it's really not that big of a deal if you want more. If you want more, let me know and I'll have HaMeR send you a bunch :roflmao:

Not actually I made a post a while back asking if anyone wanted more then what they were being allowed. And i would just bump the whole group.
I kept them kind of low to start off because it's easier for you guys in the long run. Someone who saves the dang things for future reference or what ever would really have a heck of a time sifting through all of them to find what they were looking for.
Also in attempt to make THAT easier, I added some scripts a while back which allows you guys to create folders in your PM box and move your saved messages from the inbox, into folders which you name whatever you like.

Well don't label your messages and then delete them on the inbox page as that doesn't seem to work to well    Would you guy's that I have got to send me your address's and phone number's like to do it again as I now have the cleanest message box out there.

Here's a copy of what most likely caused this situation for you.

There's been some adjustments made to this feature.
It seems as though previously, even if you changed the label of a message it still kept a copy in your "inbox".

  Not much good that way, I dont know about you guys but I want to be able to sort the ones I keep.

I adjusted the modification this morning, so NOW when you change the label of a message it no longer appears in your "inbox" also.

But it added an option in your profile that you need to place a check by if you want it to take effect.
Click on and then inside your profile click on Personal Message Options


You'll see near the bottom now where it says "Remove the inbox label when applying another label" ...place a check in that box.

How the feature works now
For example, in my private messages, I made a label called phone numbers and labeled all my PM's that have a phone number, with it. Now when I go to my PM's I can either look at the "inbox" or the "phone numbers" and they are completely sorted and in there own folder.

If you attempted this before, like i said it still left a copy in your "inbox" which was confusing and useless. You
WILL have to RE-label your messages once you activate this feature so that they move to the folder you want them to.


  I feel like a computer GEEK!
