Attn. - Slow Forum?

Alright people.
I need to know how many of you are experiencing lag (slow navigation) while on the our forums, or while trying to log on.
I wanna hear about it if it happened six months ago, and I want to hear about it if it happens now.
Is it steady, or is it off and on?
Is it only FnF or is it most sites?
How often does it happen?

I'm very seriously considering buying a larger server.
I've had a few hosting clients mention slow load times on their sites at times also. Since were all on the same server I'm wondering it's being outgrown.

The new server I have my eyes on is going to cost me triple what I'm paying now, but as far as specs, it's more then double what were running. Which means this place and all my hosting clients sites, will crackle with enormous speed boosts. Plus have plenty of disk space left for my hosting business to grow a couple more years.

I need to justify the price increase by confirming your issues, lets hear em.

I have only noticed the slow down about 6 or so times. A couple were a ways back and the rest were recently. Since the recent post, I have not been having problems. Usually it was in the evening, but a few days ago it was all day. Sorry, I don't have dates, but you might check the email I sent for the date. I have not noticed it on other sites, but then I only go to about three each day, so I can't verify many others. As for a new larger server, can you get a small business loan from Washington to pay for it?

I only see it when I got a bunch of windows open and I just think that is My pc and dial up.

Jim,

I had trouble getting on again this afternoon. 3/19/09. The background picture of all the cartridge cases loaded OK, but that was all that came up for a minute or so. Then after I read the first post and clicked on, "Show unread posts" it took a little while for the next one to come up too. Usually comes right up. I have only noticed this the last few days. I thought it was sunspots, or just a slow day for the internet, or something?? Hope this helps! My computer is pretty fast and I have suddenlink dsl.

Once in a while I have some trouble getting the page to load, but I think the problem is on this end some of the time. The brass comes up then it takes forever to get the rest, but most of the time its right there. Spell check isn't working right now.

This week has been the worst for me I could get to the fourms page then when I clicked on a post it would just tell me my connection failed then I would go back and try again and most of the time I could go to the post I wanted to look at

This site and Tho forums would slow my puter down

Chris said she was having trouble going to different places she visits on the puter also

During the day, no problem. Most evenings I have free cell up to have something to do while waiting. Usually the brass comes up, then a while later the rest of the page. Once every whipstitch, I get an error and have to hit the refresh button. In the mornings, it's lightning fast.

I tried gettin on several different times this mornin.
First time at 8:30. I'd click on my shortcut, it would
sit there,,, then "time out" and say firefox couldn't
find the server. I could get on other sites, I'd try a
few times in the next 45 mins. or so, and then the
next time I clicked on it, it popped open like normal.

I have the odd occasion where I can't get on here. But this also happens on all the Forums I visit so I'm gonna call it a problem with my IP.

Every now and then I watch the 22-250 cases for several minutes before I see anything else. I jsut thought it was my dial-up

Mr. Jim,
Spell check is not working correctly for me. Either it will not open or else is taking longer than normal when it does come up.

The spell check window opens with http://www.finsandfur.net/forums/index.php?action=spellcheck at top, says "Done" at bottom but shows no text (blank text box) ?

A few users experiencing spell check issues here and there, is pretty much an internet connection issue. Most commonly felt with slower connections.
Bout the best you can do is close it and click Spell Check again to re initiate the request.

The white box popped up and nothing else happened all 4 times the last time i posted. I'll try again on this one. My internet speed is 1.5 meg. is that fast enough?

Yeah that's fast enough.

I'm not exactly sure why you'd be having a problem. The spell check is configured and verified.
It has to be a speed or connection issue somewhere. Did this just start for you or has this been a problem for ever?

Last week it acted as if the server were down, not sure the exact day. Tthat was the first time since I can remember I've had issues loggin on.

It was down actually, but not for any amount of time. It was just off and on (whipstitch)

for a bit due to too many connection requests, which is caused by every site on the server, not just us.

On a lighter note..I splurged and bought the new server

I'm really pumped about this personally because unlike our last server upgrade in May, we were sharing our server. This bad boy is going to be all ours. Unfortunately that means I'm not sharing the bill either

This should be the last for a long time. Lots of space, lots of bandwidth, and lots of ram, which will allow plenty of growth for the forum and Fins and Fur Hosting.

I'm not sure when I'll start migrating everything to the new server. Still configuring everything, but I'll make an announcement.
