This was a honey do for the wife this winter, thought some of you guys would like the wood.  Light cherry stain, three coats varnish, sanded in between coats with 400 grit, last coat wet sanded with 600 grit

Wow Wow Wow!!!  Very beautiful coffee table.

But I wonder how many calls can be made from the top of it. :eyebrow:

It would make some great looking calls, but looks excellent just the way it is.

:bowingsmilie: Fantastic !! How did you mount it? Pocket screws or dowels? And is it made from alaskan yellow cedar?

I have a large maple piece I want to do the same thing with. I am spalting it before I mill it so I can get more color in it.Jimmie

Very well done John!  :thumb2:
Now what kinda wood is that?
Did you find that slab or get it off someone?
I sure hope it's kiln dried.
Is the base, which BTW looks great too, of the same wood?

Beautiful...I thought of all the calls that could be made from it too. But I have to say it looks much better right where you have it. I would love to make something like that someday...that would probably put the wife into shock though. I really have to make her something sometime soon :wo:

Great job on the table :yoyo: :yoyo:

I'm surprised Jim didn't want to come up and see it in person so he could try to dance on it   :roflmao: :roflmao:
