Since we dont allow conversation in the auction forum and I KNOWwwww there's going to have to be some discussion on this call being auctioned off, I wanted to be the first to thank Tikaani and Dave Paul on this one.

An absolutely beautiful call with a totally over the top story behind it.
John and Dave, I personally thank ya both from the bottom of my heart. Awesome gesture by both, speaking volumes. :congrats:

Outaatnding call Dave...and very nice donation on your part as well John. I read Dave's write up on the call and the whole time I was thinking..."I hope it's a wolf carved on it, it has to be a wolf!" Great job...I regret not having the cash to get in on the auction. I just squandered my funds on a new duck boat though. :iroll:

Hope the auction does well...

Hey a BIG thanks to both of you for your joint effort.  It seems only fitting that since Ohio is in the geographical center between Alaska and Pennsylvania that the call end up here.   :shck:  That is my geography lesson for today.  Anyway, thanks for thinking of Fins and Fur and making this project to help out.

I have not had the time to reply to all of this.  I did talk to Dave yesterday via phone prior to him posting the call.  I was not expecting the write up about me and I must say I am bit taken by what he wrote.  As I told Dave, all I did was shoot a moose and mail a package (and my wife did that), without Dave's artistry and craftsmanship, it was nothing more than a moose antler buried in the snow in my backyard, he deserves all the credit.  I want to thank Dave for accepting my offer, to take the time to make such a call for this site, he asked for nothing in return.  The only thing I now offer him, is that he has a friend in Alaska and a moose hunt here in Alaska whenever he so chooses, his only expense is his plane tickets and his moose tag, I will take care of all other expenses to include his non resident license fee.

As for Fins and Fur, I have made friends with people that I may never meet through this site.  I do not post often, but visit everyday that I am not out hunting or fishing, I enjoy reading the stories and articles from all over our Great Land.  James, answer your phone.  Barry, Bill and Jimmie I enjoy our chats in the evenings.  Scott, I have been meaning to call you, I hope all is well with your family, my offer still stands.  Jim thanks for a great site with people who enjoy the outdoors.

What you don't realize John, is that you have unknowingly done alot for us.  You've taken us on caribou hunts, and moose hunts.  We've cut bear trails with you, and buried a snow machine.. We've even smacked our lips over stacks of caribou pepperoni sticks.  All of that takes time to photograph, write up, and post.  But it lets us in on a world that the majority of us can only dream about!  I have sadly never had the pleasure of meeting the majority of the good folks here.  But on the same token, I've strolled the woods and fields of Kentucky, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Ohio, etc, etc...With out ever leaving the house.  Jim has created a little home here for us all. One where we can brag about our children, or our friends.  Or of hunts and fishing trips gone good or bad...We can ask advice, or give it...And we can rest in the comfort that there's a shoulder to cry on, and prayers to be bestowed when we need them.
That's why I could not, or would not, pass up this project.  So who ever ends up with this call when it's all said and done.  Are going to be holding a little more than some bone and wood.  I named it "Heart of Alaska" for obvious reasons.  But that "heart" represents a little more than it lets on.  It beats for all of us here...

If it's meant to be, perhaps someday in the future I'll be hunting moose with my friend in Alaska?
The honor of your offer is a bit overwhelming, and flattering at the same time!  We'll see what the future holds?  But in the meantime, a debt of gratitude goes out to you, and Mr. Jim, and the rest of the good folks here.  Thanks guys and gals!

Dave

Wow! I went back to the auction forum to see what I could snag that beautiful call for and its at $275!   :shck:  A little over my limit but worth it I'm sure.  That's going to help the FnF bank a BUNCH!   :congrats:

A big "Thank you" goes out to Miss_Hunter!  She won this auction and "The Heart of Alaska" call with her bid of $275.00   Which will be going to the Fins and Fur Bank.   A special "Thanks" to Tikaani John for making this all possible.  And to Jim for creating this site.  And to the the rest of you good folks!  I'm proud to be a member here!
