Bill,

I haven't seen Black Mesquite before, but I like the looks of it. I have turned a few Mesquite calls and the wood is pretty hard and has good tone. I assume that this is the same - only it looks MUCH better.

When I got this it came in a block 4 inches sq x 2 inches thick all covered in wax an I think I cut it the wrong
way so that could be a good reason the grain is so funky in it

I can truthfully say I've never owned a call quite like this one.

Yes, it's a fine call, sounds great but there's something that makes this call unique from others I own...

the odor of the wood makes me want to crank up the ol' charcoal burner, toss in a hand full of Mesquite chips, break out the adult beverages, kick back and slowly sacrifice a few steaks to the coyote gods.

Not a bad thing, by any means, but I've gained over five pounds since the call came. :shck:
