Here are some pics from the 1st Annual North Bay Give-Away we had last year for a king salmon fishing trip on Lake Ontario...

We had a double on Kings right off the bat...the winner of the trip is on the right (Kimm from Arkansas) and his brother (Kyle from Indiana) is on the left.

Here's one of Kimm doing battle...

The results of the double (Kimm on Left Kyle on Right)

Yours Truly :iroll:

The motley Crew (L to R)...Kimm, Kyle, First Mate Ray at the helm, Co-worker (and call buyer) Jim, and me on the cooler...

End of the day 7 Kings and 2 Steelies. I know there are only eight fish in the pic. I hauled in another steelhead as Captain Paul was cleaning our catch.

Everybody had a great time and those fish really wore the "old guys" out. As for me I was ready for more  How many inches ya think we have there :wo:

those r some nice fish, but u r still behind on the inches :roflmao:   :eyebrownod:  you better go on a lot more GUIDED trips before u catch me coulter. Im going on a guided fishing trip tommorow, only difference is im the guide :laf:

Those were some pretty stout rods too Vic...comparable to saltwater rods each loaded with a minimum of 50 pound test.

We didn't measure any of the fish - inches or weight. I had no intention of using a guide to put me into a contest dude. Even though that particular guide is a very good friend of mine that lives ten minutes from me. I do have other friends with boats that fish both PA and NY for kings, steelies, walleye, perch, lake trout and whatever else we feel like fishing for. A few limits of perch alone would have you scrambling to put more inches on the board. Lets see here, a limit of perch is 30 fish per person in PA with an average of 10" per fish. On a good day 3 guys on the same boat could have a limit a piece. Hmmm, that's 300 inches in perch alone in a single outing from my just my fish. On a bad day? Well lets just say things are starting to heat up on the Lake Erie bite. Look at last years results...I had one days worth of fish entered (not even a limit) and took second place. You don't think I could run away with this thing if I wanted to? We have one of the best fisheries in the country right here...perch, walleye, steelhead, big lake run brownies, Largemouth and Smallmouth bass, not to mention channel cats, carp all the little 8" blue gills you can muster up. I could also go to some streams and catch a basket full of 15" trout without batting an eye. Good luck on your mission.

So u have the best water to fish but i can fish every day , so this sould be a good one  :yoyo:

Smart move Steve......guard the beer, the most prized possession on the boat.

golfertrout

whats the biggest brown u have caught coulter? and where was they caught in lake or stream.

Coulter

Here is a brown from Lake Ontario from a couple of years ago...

Todd Rahm

Man I would love to catch one of the browns.  ;yes;

golfertrout

thats a nice one . what was the weight and length?    I went to get my 7.5 pound brown from the taxedermist and it looked like crap he is going to repaint it.  I caught mine in a stream

I tell ya what.....I have been around the world when it comes to mammal and fish mounts, with my years of skin prep and tanning. I have seen some mounts you couldnt give away on Ebay.

Every fish that gets mounted has all the colorings completely removed from it when it is treated with the preservative. It turns them practically black and white. Shade tree taxidermists buy a template kit and spray paint them back to life once the skin is glued over a form....and it shows.

A real taxidermist studies photos of the actual species, some ask for pics of the species when you bring it in for mounting, and then they airbrush it back to life.

That brown is either a plastic replica, or your taxidermist knows what the heck he is doing. I'm sure it wasn't cheap to have done but it's worth every penny when they do a job like that.
Very nice.

I would say the head is fake...Look no teeth...and the gills are removed.
and the body skin is real.
Trout have a VERY greasy head and most would rather replace it than have it cave in later.
It is a good job though most do not even look like the same species when they are done.
