"Dad, I want to try and carve a woodsy face."   Said my daughter Kelly, who's home from college for the summer.  So after a few quick pointers, and a couple scraps of wood, I handed her a Red oak call, and turned her loose in the shop with my carving tools.  She's alway had an artistic nature.   And has come to her father's aid many times when I was stumped on a carving scene.  Giving her a Red oak call to carve was a "trial by fire".  In that, anyone that's carved on Red oak knows that it's a bear to work.  But by gosh!  She free hand carved a very good "woodsy face" into that call!  I'm dang proud of my little girl!  "Little Ms. HuntnCarve"!
And here's the call.

Now maybe I can turn the keys over to her and devote my life to more hunting! LOL!

I gave her a piece of whitetail antler to try carving on.  She immediately turned up her nose and started complaining about the smell!  LOL!  I think I'll let her try some cow horn?  That'll get her!
Now they know what poor Ol' Dad goes through. LOL!

Seriously tho I've seen your "Old man" carvings & now Kelly's & I think they are both quite nicely done. It appears tho that yours is a bit older looking. Maybe your depicting Gramps & she's depicting Pops.

It looks like your kids are talented like their father.  Tell her she did a great job on the carving.  Or maybe you should tell her that we all complained about it and that she should NOT return to YOUR shop.
