ACORN is mentioned in the Health Care Bill, they will be paid to sign up people for the health care plan, wow $$$ they will get paid to do paper work I want that job! Anyway these look scary! Tax, tax, tax!!!! I started to use red but there all crap!! Read and weep

• Page 29: Admission: your health care will be rationed!
• Page 30: A government committee will decide what treatments and benefits you get (and, unlike an insurer, there will be no appeals process)
• Page 42: The "Health Choices Commissioner" will decide health benefits for you. You will have no choice. None.
• Page 50: All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free healthcare services.

• Page 102: Those eligible for Medicaid will be automatically enrolled: you have no choice in the matter.
• Page 124: No company can sue the government for price-fixing. No "judicial review" is permitted against the government monopoly. Put simply, private insurers will be crushed.
• Page 127: The AMA sold doctors out: the government will set wages.
• Page 145: An employer MUST auto-enroll employees into the government-run public plan. No alternatives.
• Page 126: Employers MUST pay healthcare bills for part-time employees AND their families.
• Page 149: Any employer with a payroll of $400K or more, who does not offer the public option, pays an 8% tax on payroll
• Page 150: Any employer with a payroll of $250K-400K or more, who does not offer the public option, pays a 2 to 6% tax on payroll
• Page 167: Any individual who doesnt' have acceptable healthcare (according to the government) will be taxed 2.5% of income.
• Page 170: Any NON-RESIDENT alien is exempt from individual taxes (Americans will pay for them).
• Page 195: Officers and employees of Government Healthcare Bureaucracy will have access to ALL American financial and personal records.
• Page 203: "The tax imposed under this section shall not be treated as tax." Yes, it really says that.
• Page 239: Bill will reduce physician services for Medicaid. Seniors and the poor most affected."
• Page 241: Doctors: no matter what specialty you have, you'll all be paid the same (thanks, AMA!)
• Page 253: Government sets value of doctors' time, their professional judgment, etc.
• Page 265: Government mandates and controls productivity for private healthcare industries.
• Page 268: Government regulates rental and purchase of power-driven wheelchairs.

• Page 354: Government will restrict enrollment of SPECIAL NEEDS individuals.
• Page 379: More bureaucracy: The health Advisory Committee (healthcare by phone).
• Page 425: More bureaucracy: Advance Care Planning Consult: Senior Citizens, assisted suicide, euthanasia?
• Page 425: Government will instruct and consult regarding living wills, durable powers of attorney, etc. Mandatory. Appears to lock in estate taxes ahead of time.
• Page 425: Government provides approved list of end-of-life resources, guiding you in death.
• Page 427: Government mandates program that orders end-of-life treatment; government dictates how your life ends.
• Page 429: Advance Care Planning Consult will be used to dictate treatment as patient's health deteriorates. This can include an ORDER for end-of-life plans. An ORDER from the GOVERNMENT.
• Page 430: Government will decide what level of treatments you may have at end-of-life.
• Page 469: Community-based Home Medical Services: more payoffs for ACORN.
• Page 472: Payments to Community-based organizations: more payoffs for ACORN.
• Page 489: Government will cover marriage and family therapy. Government intervenes in your marriage.
• Page 494: Government will cover mental health services: defining, creating and rationing those services.

I'm new to this forum and I apologize in advance if I insult anyone with this post, but I thought that pointing out some inaccuracies in Carolina Coyote's original post is the responsible thing to do here. I know I'm in the minority in this forum, but I assure you, I am in majority in the country, as anyone who watches something other than Fox news can tell you: we need healthcare reform.

And I really had to laugh when I found out that this is actually a chain email going around, and that there are websites out there that debunk the whole thing. But I wanted to read the thing myself and come to my own conclusions.

Where to begin? I have not read the whole bill, and I haven't even gotten all the way through Carolina's post yet, but I've found that most facts are misrepresented or completely made up. And I'm only up to page 250 of the 1018 page bill, found here: http://waysandmeans.house.gov/media/pdf/111/AAHCA09001xml.pdf. So here we go.

First off, ACORN is NOT mentioned anywhere in the document. You can search for ACORN or for Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now and nothing comes up.

I'm just going to touch on some major points:

Page 22: There's no mention of an audit for those who self-insure, it mentions a survey to see what kinds of plans people are going for.

Page 42: The Health Choices Commissioner will not decide each individuals' health benefits (the mere premise is ridiculous- 1 commissioner for all 300 million of us?), but the Commissioner and a panel will come up with all the plans.

Page 50: I'm kind of lost ... there's no mention of non-citizens in here, just a non-discrimination clause, saying they can't use mental health or genetic conditions to deny care.

Page 58: Again, I see no direct mention of a National ID Healthcard, but is this really so bad? Don't Insurance companies already give out cards? Oh wait. They do.

Page 59: There will be an option to pay your healthcare-related expenses by direct deposit/electronic fund transfer, there's nothing about the government taking your money.

Page 72: Yes, all Healthcare providers need to follow rules so there will be a level playing field.

Page 84: Only private healthcare companies who WANT to be part of the govt's healthcare exchange need to participate.

Page 91: Let's face it, there are lots of people who don't speak English as well as the should, both legal and illegal.

Page 95: The Health Commissioner will arrange an outreach campaign, for "vulnerable populations" (poor people, children, the elderly). ACORN? Nowhere to be found.

Page 102: Yes, if you are not enrolled in the Govt's exchange program, you will be enrolled in Medicaid. Free healthcare... those bastards!

Page 124: Nothing about suing the gov't here... just that the gov't can change prices of its benefits to make them more competitive.

127: The gov't will set wages for doctors who participate in the exchange only.

145: Out-right lie. In page 148 (lines 3-11) it says that employees may opt-out of the plan.

126 (sic): This is actually in page 146, and it says that the rates for part-time employees are determined by the hours the employee works.

149: True, but that's because the employer would have opted not to offer health insurance benefits to employees (so it's a penalty).

150: See 149.

167: Also true. Why is everyone so opposed to having health care?

170: Not true. Illegal aliens actually are not covered by any plans.

195: This is not quite true either: it says the gov't employees will have access to any data required to consider eligibility. It's not like they're going to go in an steal all your information. Not like the IRS doesn't already have it all...

203: If you read the rest of the sentence: "...for purposes of determining the amount of any credit under this chapter or for purposes of section 55." Meaning that you can include what you paid in taxes when determining whether you're eligible for credits.

241: Nothing about payment to doctors... Just adds a couple of "service categories" to the existing bill.

I'm tired now. I'm only one quarter of the way into it, as you can see. Don't be taken in by these lies, go read the bill yourself if you have any questions. There are any number of legit websites that break it down for you.

One more point: Page 489: Why is covering marriage and family therapy considered "intervening"? If a healthcare company pays for OB/GYN care, does it mean that they're intervening in your sex life? Ridiculous!

It's the dipwads way of creating a health care monopoly. He feels the need for competition to settle the rising costs yet he proposes that the federal gubment becomes the competition.  :shck:  Which means the gubment can then make the laws so only they can afford to play by the rules effectively eliminating any competition from the insurance companies. I might be a little older than most of the "followers" but I still remember the federal gubment outlawing monopolies. Unless of course they are the ones creating it apparently.   

As far as you hurting my feelings,, trust me on this one,, I have no good feelings toward your new messiah or any of his followers. I am not for a socialist or fascist type of government. And I'm certainly NOT for his "Spreading the waelth" campaign. I worked for what little I have now & I'm damn tired of giving 1/3 of it away to welfare & rejects that are too lazy to work. I appreciate your civility, it's more than I expected based on my previous interactions in forums like this one. I understand if you're sore from our current president's election, I can't think of a recent president who so many people had such a deep hatred for. Though he IS our president, he is no messiah, nobody has called him that except for the hateful red-wingers. And nobody who knows what socialism or fascism really are would make claims that this is where we're heading. Despite what the naysayers say (pardon the redundancy), our country was headed for a cliff and now it seems as though we may come out alright. And that's not thanks to our previous administration.

But back to the topic at hand-- I know the current health care bill is in no way perfect. But at least it's going to give all 40 million of the un-insured (I used to be one less than a year ago) an option. Countries which have government-ran healthcare top the lists when it comes to healthy citizens, and the US is usually somewhere at the bottom. Why? because an overweight person can't get insured for less than $1,500 a month; if you have a pre-existing condition, forget about it.

This is not about you, or taking your money away, it's about everyone else in the country, those who have less than you. So let's say that the gov't does set prices, and private health insurers do have to cut their rates. Are you insured? your premiums would probably drop. If you're not, you'd probably be able to actually afford insurance. The healthcare industry's business is not to provide care, because they lose money that way. They're in it to sign you up, take your money, and then deny care to you. I've no sympathy at all.

I've ranted on for long enough. Patriotism is not just about waiving flags and hating immigrants. It's about pulling together even sacrificing for the good of the whole. Those freeloaders you talk about? I'd rather the government spend my money on them than on subsidizing oil companies or tapping my phone. Though only barely.

I will be supporting this mega welfare case for those that don't want to work.  As for the healthier citizens in other countries the thing I've noticed most is that our people that are already on the "FREE" gubment health care plan,, welfare,, are healthier than those of us that go to work every day & stress over when our jobs are being sent overseas.  I will agree that bush in his 2nd term was purdy much useless when it came to bringing back our jobs too & I was very disappointed in his 2nd term but,,, at least he wasn't trying to shove a global welfare system down our throats.
