I will probably make that one. That's probably not 60 miles from where I grew up as a kid. I can stay with Grandma or one of my "inebriated" non drinking cousins......... :laf:
St. Francis probably less than fifty miles from where I made those stands in October.......... :doh2:

As long as the boss will let me off I am going. Maybe a couple of us from around here could go and split gas. I could probably get us all free or at least reduced room and board.........but I got to warn ya. My kin ain't like me...........they are "different"....... :innocentwhistle: :whew:

Sounds good George.......... :congrats:  There's a little town just east of there called Herndon. My cousins own the only restaurant in town there, but it serves huge ribs and steaks and some of the coldest beer on the planet.

Joe....it'll be $4.20 by the time we go......... :madd:

I am seriously considering going to this thing in the worst way.  I haven't been to that part of KC in quite a few years.  I spent a couple of summers there as I was growing up for some summer jobs.

Overland Park is a little high brow, and has me wandering if they will let a bunch of predator huntin rednecks into town. :rolleye:  Maybe we can show them how to have a good time :roflmao: :eyebrow: :eyebrow: :roflmao:

Dirty Dog and I were talking and it was scary. Naw just kidding.

We would be willing to bet that somewhere near to KC is a state park type thing or LBL type where you could rent cabins WITH running water and A/C for a decent price. Maybe sleep 7 to 10 people. What do you guys think?  Anyone up for a thing like that. Would also have to have a kitchen.........just kidding.  :laf:

There may be something at Lake Clinton next to Lawrence KS.  Not sure, but probably a good chance.  That's about a 30-45 minute ride into Overland Park from there.  Not sure if there is anything on the east end of KC.  I ain't familiar with the Missouri side of the town.

Anything in the Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, Leawood, areas will get pretty expensive, really fast.  The best bet would be to stay on the Missouri side.  Everything over there is less expensive.  Even the house keepers with the French Maid outfit.  (but they may not have all of their teeth  :shck:)

Hey, that sounds like fun...

Checking the schedule...it looks like our Fins and Furs corporate jet is available.
Our CEO did have it spoken for but the French Maid's convention, in New York,
has been moved to the following week.

And... our limos can pick everyone up at the airport.

Bop, Chet, and anyone near Nashville........

I have been keeoing my eye on the Soutwest Airlines specials. This morning there were flights from Nashville to Kansas City for $38-$41 one way. However, they were only for May. I am gonna keep my eyes open and let you guys know. I have not yet been able to find a good campground close. So if someone else can help with that, it would be cool.  :yoyo:

OK.  I read the calling contest entry form.  If this is going to be a real contest, it requires callers to be anonymous and to call from behind curtains.  Brent? are you running the contest?

And since this isn't the '50's anymore, there should also be a fifth division in the contest - electronic.  I would sure like to see the Game Trax, WR, Burnham, Foxpro, Minaska and WT played behind the curtain for the same judges.

I would think it would be the only way to be fair ,,,,with the Internet, and what go's on on these sight, i would hate to see peoples  dislike for each other come in to play

QuoteOK.  I read the calling contest entry form.  If this is going to be a real contest, it requires callers to be anonymous and to call from behind curtains.  What a great forum for FoxPro to sell their stuff.  Brent? are you running the contest?

Skoal,

Yes, I am running the contest. I wrote the rules for the contest as well.

To answer your question here is a quote from the rules that are posted here:

http://www.worldpredatorandhuntingexpo.com/contest_rules.html

Quote18 - The judges will not be visible to the callers. The judges will not be able to see the audience

In order to keep this as fair as I could the judges will behind the curtain. This was they cant see the callers or the audience, so the judges will be sectioned off and the only thing they can see is a curtain. The audience will be able to see the callers as they call and will get the full experience of the event, callers emotion and all.

There is also practicing restrictions as well. There will be no calling in front of the judges......

Quote17 - There will be no practicing of calls in the competition room or within hearing range of the judges.

Also here..............

Quote12 - The drawing for the calling positions will be drawn for right after the callers meeting after the judges have been dismissed. Positions for drawing order will be drawn for in the order your registrations are received. There will be no further contact with the judges after this time.

Just so you know the callers will be referred to as to what number they draw to call in. When they are announced my the MC it will be by the number they draw in the callers meeting after the judges are dismissed.

If I can help anymore or answer anymore questions let me know or you are welcome to call me as well.

Brent

You've got your work cut out for you.  If you assume you get anywhere near the 250 contestants you planned and even somehow manage to keep to a strict schedule, those are going to be some long days for the judges.  Most old varmint hunters need to pee twice an hour and are mostly deaf from gunfire.  You going to make them pass a hearing test?

Is anyone recording the performances?  for judge's review...for sale later....for arguments later?

The preliminary rounds will be on Thursday for the adults, and the finals later in the weekend. And there will be breaks in there for the judges and a lunch break if needed. I am working on a schedule of events now. We have 4 days to work it all in. The NWTF does it every year at the Grand Nationals. I will make sure they get to go pee....lol...Things will move fairly fast once the ball gets rolling.

Yes the contest will be recorded. Don't know if it will be for sale or not that's up to Brent R. But were trying hard to get it filmed and aired on TV but we will see what works out.

Thanks HaMer! We are trying hard to make this a first class contest and fair. This is a big task and has taken allot of time and work to put together.

Lake Perry is about 15 minutes Northeast of Topeka.  Got busted there once a looooong time ago for having hard alcohol on state property:doh2:  We didn't get a ticket, but the officer did take our 2 brand new 1/2 gallons of Crown Royal :madd:   :argh:   He said that you could only have beer on State campgrounds :readthis:.  Good thing we had plenty of Bud Light on hand.   I'm not sure what the regulations are there anymore, so you may want to keep the whisky out of sight if ya have it.  We were young and stupid and had the bottles sitting out on the park bench for all to see. :nofgr:

Lake Perry is a nice little scenic area.  It'll be probably around an hour to hour and a half drive to Overland Park.

KC is close enough that I might go check it out. It is about a 4 hour drive from my house. I might get a couple of friends to go with me. I am kinda glad they are holding it in august, that way it is still early and the hunting seasons are just about to start and most of us are just getting geared up for the next hunting seasons. This might be a good thing to go to.

I usually don't pay any attention to these things. Mainly because they're always scheduled when I have to work...and this one is too...

But think since Bop put this bug in my ear it's gotten the gears turning and I may just take the time off anyway and drive down for the three days. Don't know if I'll be going alone or what yet?

14 hours and 990 miles. I'll be going straight east to Fargo, then south along the state lines. If there's anyone in between that might need a ride let me know, we might be able to work something out.

I'll see what's around online for hotels and prices, but if any of you guys have any recommendations shoot'em my way.

Brad

Nothing against Brent Rueb, but who ever made that web page must have slept through half of it. There is not a single key word or even a meta tag to help anyone find that page on the internet.

If you dont get the link to the site from a friend, you'll have your work cut out for you. Pretty poor advertising.
A dead nuts Google search on "Predator Expo" still buries it half way down the page. :rolleye: And that's because the search engines have absolutely nothing to go on, without those tags.
I can't even begin to imagine the amount of  patrons or revenue that's going to cost them in the long run. :doh2:

:yoyo:Well it looks like my buddies and I are going to make it. We decided to go about a week ago. I was really hoping my friend Rich would try the calling contest, but he says he does not care to have a title or even compete for it. He is damn good, but no matter how much I try and prod him he won't do it. Maybe I will get to meet some of you guys.

I'll be there from start to... almost... finish.   I plan on stopping by Baxter's booth tomorrow afternoon before the doors open- and I'll be bouncing around working a couple other booths in the evening.  Saturday I'll be in a booth or two and helping out with the calling contest among other things.  Sunday we're hoping to wind it down early but we'll see how things go.  A couple of my buddies are waiting until Sunday to arrive so I'll stick around to see them at the very least.

I'm staying in the Sheraton- plan on having dinner with some very knowledgable coyote men and great guys on Friday & Saturday nights.  If anyone is interested in some steak, beer and good coyote discussion just speak up on Friday or Saturday and we'll keep you filled in on the plans/reservations!  I'm really looking forward to this expo now- wish more of you could attend!

Welcome aboard Chris. I was going to ask if you was the Chris we ate supper with that night at the Sheraton, when I seen your post in the "tell us about you" thread.

I got ya figured out now though  :eyebrownod:
It was good meeting you. After talking to you a while and listening to you a while out there, I've decided that I could easily share many stands with a person like you. Laid back, not modest, easy to get along with, and full of good stories.

Again welcome to the board...make yourself at home.

Same here Chris is laid back and easy to talk and cut up with. I think he will fit right in with the guys at LBL. Iam doing everything I can to get him to come out. I still owe him a few beers.

Once again WELCOME to the board Chris

Hey CCP,   could you give me a little more info on the LBL it sounds like a blast. I would really like to attend if possible. Once again I would like to thank you and Arron for the video. I would like to thank Jim for the hat also. It was great meeting you guys at the expo. I had the best time there, can't wait until next year. Ive hunted three times since Ive been back. Two coyotes and called three bobcats in, cant shoot them until later. Both coyotes were just pups, but its still fun shooting them anyways. Temp was in the high 90's , I did not think I would get any thing to come to the call, but they were young and stupid. well hope to here more about the LBL
