Made my 1st trip to the lake this year. It started out kinda slow. Then, it stayed slow. :laf: I did catch 2 little dink bass. Then I caught this 6 lb, 21" smallmouth bass. I got it on a small white Beetle Spin on my ultra-light rod. What a fight. It was a blast. :yoyo:
Pics not too good though.

Nice Ed!   I'm surprised coyotes weren't jumping into the boat! :laf:

Wow, that thing is a beaut! :yoyo:
I've went down to work the pike a few times but were slowly getting flooded out up here, which puts the kabash on it.

What are your water temps down there Ed?

Water temp was 51* early this morning. Then warmed up to 55* later on in the day. The sun was out, but had a cold north wind blowing. Even had a few flurries in the morning.

Mark, Yes I was at Laurel Lake. That's were I spend most of the summer fishing as it's close to home.

Jim, I only caught 2 other small bass. But a cold front was coming thru so it wasn't going to be too good of a day anyway. But water temps in the 50s are plenty warm enough to get the smallmouth biting.

FinsnFur

Our smallmouth up here are pretty scarce usually, until after the largemouth spawn, which is around 65 degrees here.
In fact it's usually like clockwork, the largemouth start to back down and the first day it's noticed we can head over to the Wisconsin River, (much faster water) and pull smallies out one after the other.
It's like nothing you've ever seen.
