Bill, I wish you a speedy recovery.  It's never fun being hurt as it takes the fun out of things.

Let us know what the specialist tells ya.

Surgery in the morning skin graff then pressure bandage for 2 weeks absolutely no use of the left hand. Then 2 more weeks of healing after the pressure bandages come off
Off work the rest of this week and then light duty for 2 weeks for sure and depending on how well the graff takes it could be 2 - 4 more weeks of light duty

Bill,

Thanks for the update.  Sorry to hear what you are needing, but at least the doctor did say something like, "I will just get rid of the rest of it for you."     :rolleye:

Yeah it was something like 18 months to 2 years to heal completely if we just let it heal on its own

Sunday in the ER they did mention cutting it off at the first knuckle of course at that time it didn't matter to me  :nono: but after talking with this Dr things seem a bit different

I had just watched the History channel's program on Gettysburg before I wrote that.  The saw was about the only tool they really seemed to use.   :puke:

I had the saw part covered just an updated version of what they used back then  :laf:

I just need someone to fix what i messed up

I have watched some of those shows on the history channel and  I don't think I would have survived some of the practices they had back then, maybe thats why they started making shine That is the best pain reliever I have found

I am on the road to recovery
My hand will stay wrapped up in this pressure bandage for 2 weeks

Very strict orders absolutely no fishing Do not get this wrap wet at all and lake water has way to many germs in it for me to be around

Will the Dr. let ya go after goldfish in a swimming pool Bill?   Glad to see you are on the mend.

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Glad your mending and very glad they can get you back to close to normal.

Back to close to normal is all were gonna get with Bill.
Even with all the king's horses and all the king's men.  :alscalls:

Seriously though Bill...I hope your recovery is short and painless Bud.
You need to make sure you dont miss any work. The folks that refuse to work for a living but yet land in the hospital at the site of a machine or wood chisel are counting on our paychecks and tax money to keep going.

Hey I got a left hand that is missing just the tip of the index finger and I broke the bone in the tip of my pinki on the same hand. My right hand is a miracle in itsself. When I was a kid I sliced the palm of my hand open down to the muscle and bone. It is amazing what they can do to put you back to right when you do something amazing to FUBAR it.

Follow the docs instructions and get one of these http://www.sawstop.com/

I watched a live demo of that saw and the man putting it on used his finger. Several hot dogs were used but for one demenstration he used his finger. He was cut yes but the cut didnt even require a band aid.
